Live radio interview, 7/14 in Cape May

I’ve been invited on to a radio show hosted by Roy Baker for WCFA 101.5 in Cape May County, NJ.  The interview will be an hour long, 4 – 5pm EST this Sunday, July 14.  I’ll be playing a number of cover songs live on the air & Roy said he would air a couple of my original recordings.  This is exciting as I’ve never had a chance to play music on air.

I sing and play guitar a fair amount as “Ichabod Crane” in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow so it will be a good opportunity to plug the show a little.  Mostly it will just be nice to sit down, play, and chat with Roy for an hour.

“Ichabod Crane” in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (world premiere)

Rehearsals have started for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (East Lynne Theatre Company, Cape May, NJ).  I’ll be playing that famed fellow “Ichabod Crane”.  This world premiere play was adapted by James Rana from Washington Irving’s story.  The show runs July 24 – August 31.

invited screening for Asabiyyah: A New Social Cohesion

Asabiyyah: A New Social Cohesion, a feature length film in which I played the lead role “Martin Grey”, has at last been finished in post. I attended the invited screening last week (pictured below with some cast and crew), June 15, in Ridgefield, CT.  The film screening went over very well with about 200 people in attendance.

In addition to the screening, the sponsored event had a cocktail hour with open bar, full catered dinner, music, and great atmosphere.  Click here for the film’s website  –  asabiyyahmovie.com

CHEMISTRY OF LOVE  Reviews

This play has excellent performances by actors Jenne Vath as Karen the New Jersey outsider with unrealized artistic ambitions and Matt Baxter Luceno as Tyler, the hipster artist with deeply pretentious clichés about art and life. “

This play feels and sounds right. Whether you have or don’t have art poseurish friends you’ll love spending time with these artists. ”  —  Larry Litt,  New York Theatre Wire   nytheatre-wire.com/ll13051t.htm

” .. Resoundingly compelling play..   All four actors give fine, authentic performances in roles that lesser players would let slip into cliché. They are consistently outstanding in both lighter, humorous and darker, serious scenes. “

Chemistry of Love is the kind of robust and innovative theater that, decades ago, Broadway produced in abundance, but which is now found primarily outside of the confines of the Broadway theater district. The outstanding quality of this work leaves you marveling at the performances, the writing, the whole experience — and has you exiting the theater knowing you have witnessed authentic theatrical artistry. “  —  Jay Reisberg,  Culture Catch   culturecatch.com/theater/chemistry-of-love

” Matt Baxter Luceno as Tyler does a beautiful job as a smarter than he appears individual. In a gripping scene with Lara in which both are high with drugs and in another in which he is irrevocably rejected after repeatedly declaring his love for her, he manages the almost impossible feat of playing over the top and making it work. “

” The four complex characters never cease to keep our attention; to keep us waiting for the other shoe to fall. “  —  Patricia Norris,  Woman Around Town   womanaroundtown.com/sections/playing-around/chemistry-of-love-drinking-from-the-fur-lined-teacup

This well-acted and well-staged production explores the problems one faces when they depict their personal life in their art. ”   —  Adrienne Urbanski,  Theatre is Easy   www.theasy.com/Reviews/2013/C/chemistryoflove.php

The play peels back layers of the insular world of arts to reveal a mess Jackson Pollock would be proud of. Intimacy issues, manic depression, pills, booze, and booty calls are not only motivations, they are the artistic product when filmed and photographed. “  —  Karen D’Onofrio,  Electronic Link Journey   www.eljnyc.com/Offbway.html

The play functions as both a satire and a tragedy. Playwright Campbell has done an impressive job of grounding a complicated cycle of developments in character. “

“.. The play goes to surprising places, ones I never would have seen coming in the opening beats..  George Ferencz gets subtle and effective work out of the close-knit ensemble “  —  Trav S. D.,  Travalanche   travsd.wordpress.com/2013/05/13/chemistry-of-love
